Zones

Zones define the geographic service areas used by Ondi Delivery. They help the tenant decide where delivery is available, which areas use internal drivers, which areas can use an external carrier, which warehouse acts as an external hub, and which zone pricing rules can apply.

Go to Delivery Management -> Zones.

What a zone controls

A zone has a name, code, map boundary, status, color, tags, population density, internal handling setting, and optional external carrier settings.

Use zones to answer practical delivery questions:

  • Is this pickup or drop-off address inside a serviceable area?
  • Should the order be handled by the tenant's own fleet?
  • Can this area use an external carrier?
  • Which warehouse is used as the external carrier hub?
  • Which pricing rules are connected to this origin or destination?
  • Which reports and dashboard charts should group this work under?

Key settings

Status controls whether the zone is used for new delivery work. Active zones are available. Inactive zones remain saved but stop being used for new deliveries.

Population Density can be low, medium, or high. Use it as an operational classification for planning coverage and route complexity.

Internal Enabled means deliveries in the zone can be handled by the tenant's own fleet or resources.

External Integration Enabled means the zone can use an external carrier integration. When this is enabled, the zone can also store carrier, inbound, outbound, warehouse, and merchant credential settings.

Tags group zones for selection and pricing. Tags are especially useful in zone pricing because one pricing rule can apply to all zones that share a tag.

What to configure next

After zones are created, configure Zone Pricing so Ondi knows how to price movement between origins and destinations.
